This workshop concentrates on interviewing inventors and on drafting mechanical, electrical, process, and computer hardware and software patent claims in groups of two or three (of similar experience levels). Using an overhead projector, each of the claims drafted and corresponding claims drafted by the Instructor are critiqued by the entire group.

A Comprehensive Guide to Patents takes you through the entire patent process INCLUDING MANY ASPECTS OF THE NEW AMERICA INVENTS ACT using a fictitious invention, the "kickback" putter invented by Arnold Plummer and Crash TeeBall and assigned to PuttRite, Inc.

The Patents and the Patent Process workshop moves through the entire Patent Preparation and Prosecution Process starting with the Pre-Patenting Process which includes a completely filled out Invention Disclosure based on a fictitious invention (the "KickBack" putter), fictitious inventors (Arnold Plummer and Crash TeeBall), and a fictitious Assignee (PuttRite, Inc.). Where appropriate, aspects of the new America Invents Act will be discussed.

This Workshop takes participants through the entire PCT Process. It starts with a brief discussion of patents in general and U.S. patents in particular. It explains what the Paris Convention is and provides a thorough discussion of ABSOLUTE NOVELTY versus the more familiar U.S. GRACE PERIOD (statutory bar) pursuant to 35USC102b.
